Enjoying our school grown potatoes

We cut our potatoes (which we had grown ourselves) into chips and all enjoyed having a taste of them on Friday afternoon.

Potatoes

Year two have been growing two types of potatoes donated from the ‘Grow yor own potatoes’ campaign.  We dug them up and weighed our crop.  All together the combined weight was 1210 grammes.

Twycross Zoo

We had a lovely day on our trip to Twycross Zoo, we certainly saw lots of different monkeys.  It was great fun watching the sealions being fed.  It was very sad that the lions had been moved to Dudley Zoo but we did get to see the leoopards.  It started to rain near the end of the day but we were lucky, we stayed dry and sheltered in the shop.

Secret Garden

We have been using our bodies to make flower and plant shapes.  Mark has been working with us and helping us to create different movements with a partner and in a group.

Chinese Visitor

We had a chinese visitor come and teach us some Mandarin.  He helped us pronounce our counting correctly and taught us some new words.  It was great fun!

Scotland

Year 2 have been learning about Scotland as part of our topic.  During Learning Agreement Time some of the girls produced a scottish dance and some children like Omari made their own powerpoint presentations.

Gardening

We have been gardening and planting lots of different things including potatoes, carrots and sweet peas.  Lets hope they grow!

New Topic

After Easter the new topic will all be about Scotland, so if you get bored in the holiday then see if you can start to find out some information about Scotland.  Try and locate it on a map, find out names of the cities and look at what the landscape is like.

Mad Science

This morning we enjoyed a fabulous assembly from Mad Science.  We watched the Professor do lots of experiments, some of them were just like magic!

         

         

          

Helping your child

Hello parents, hope you are well.

We are going to start using the blog as a way to inform you more of what your children will be learning at school as well as posting news.  Therefore, you can chose to work with your child on any of the suggested areas to enhance their learning.

Next week we will learning about times tables and writing sums using the multiplication sign.  The tables we will focus on will be the 2x, 5x and 10x tables. A useful website for the children to play games to learn these is suggested below:
